Shape of Dreams has crossed a major milestone to start 2026, surpassing 1 million cumulative units sold worldwide just four months after its launch in September last year on PC, according to publisher NEOWIZ.

Developed by Lizard Smoothie, the action roguelite has seen steady growth since its global release on September 10, solidifying its status as one of the more notable new success stories of the past year. This comes after reaching its first 300,000 sales in its first week.

The game’s momentum has been driven by a mix of distinctive mechanics and strong word-of-mouth. Shape of Dreams delivers fast-paced combat wrapped in a surreal, dreamlike aesthetic, a combination that has resonated with both critics and players. The title currently holds an 84 score on Metacritic after seven syndicated reviews and maintains a “Very Positive” user rating on Steam with over 4,800 user reviews, helping fuel continued sales long after launch.

“Thanks to our fans worldwide, Shape of Dreams has established itself as a global hit IP,” said a NEOWIZ representative in a prepared statement. “We will continue to manage future content for the action roguelite diligently while leveraging NEOWIZ’s global publishing capabilities to further drive the game’s success.”

Post-launch support has played a key role in sustaining player interest. Since launch, Lizard Smoothie has emphasized direct communication with its community, rapidly responding to feedback with hot fixes and balance updates.

In December, the team released its first major content update, adding official Steam Workshop support along with new gameplay challenges, including the Hardcore Challenge Mode “Limbo” and a powerful hidden boss. The update was widely praised for expanding replayability and deepening the game’s roguelite systems.

Shape of Dreams reflects NEOWIZ’s growing reputation as a publisher willing to invest in distinctive indie projects alongside larger-scale titles. For Lizard Smoothie, a studio founded in 2023 by two college students, reaching the one-million-sales mark positions Shape of Dreams not just as a breakout debut, but as the foundation for a long-term global IP.

NEOWIZ and Lizard Smoothie say additional updates are planned as they continue to expand the game’s content and audience throughout 2026 and beyond. Shape of Dreams is available on PC via Steam for $24.99.
