Confession time: I've never stepped foot on a tropical island of any kind. I always thought sunburn was the primary reason for my hesitance, but now I realize my uncertainty comes from the chance of getting my face ripped off by an undead horror.

Video Blips:

• Dead Island's idyllic Banoi Island offers postcard vistas, azure waters, and shambling corpses of rotting flesh. I suppose this trailer's somber music is an artistic expression of "shit hits the fan."

Continue after the break for another special message from Gearbox Software regarding Duke Nukem Forever, a surprisingly plausible cybernetics commercial from Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Sarif Industries, and the lawless frontiers of space in Starhawk.

• Gearbox President Randy Pitchford didn't know about the June 3 date of Duke Nukem Forever's demo. This was probably a passive-aggressive jab by the employees for more donuts in the break room.

• Deus Ex: Human Revolution's gigantic Sarif Industries touts the restorative properties of its cybernetic products. It also made this science-fiction nerd yearn for advances in the actual technology so he can get his robot legs.

• I've already got skydiving soldiers to deal with; now Starhawk wants to land buildings on my head. I imagine drawing each base's blueprint is an easy task: simply write the word "anywhere" on a sheet of paper. Done!
