I've complained in the past about the industry's excessive usage of zombies, but fighting the animated corpse of George Romero brandishing a film set light fixture is probably the most creative thing to come out of the Call of Duty franchise since…well, ever.

Video Blips:

• A grindhouse gore-fest defines Call of the Dead, part of Call of Duty: Black Ops' Escalation DLC pack. Props to Treyarch for somehow squeezing in enough B-list zombie slayers to make up for the inexcusable absence of Bruce Campbell.

Continue after the break for the launch trailer of Darkspore, the comical dismemberments of No More Heroes: Red Zone, and a Pyrrhic victory after a lengthy siege in Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword.

• Sneak, slash, and zap your way to ever-increasing piles of loot in Darkspore. I staunchly believe that a game can't compare itself to Diablo 2 until it breaks my mouse in half with too much clicking.

• If my grasp of Japanese was more than miniscule, I'm positive I'd be able to fathom what the hell is going on in this trailer for No More Heroes: Red Zone. On second thought, the presence of gravity-defying anime hairdos would plunge me back into the abyss of utter confusion. [GameTrailers]

• Numerous assaults upon a hardened keep ultimately results in victory in Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword. At what cost, you ask? Wasted musket balls on oblivious defenders, apparently.
