News Blips: EA’s “Culture of Fear”, Gran Turismo 5 Delayed, Sonic Mimics Mario, and More

Star Wars: The Old RepublicRemember EA Spouse, the disgruntled EA employee's wife whose blog brought about higher salaries and overtime pay for the company's workers? Well, consider EA Louse the edgier, more depressing sequel without the happy ending.

News Blips:

A blogger called EA Louse, who claims to be an employee of Bioware Mythic is posting various claims about the inner workings of EA. The writer described the work environment as a "culture of fear" that punishes the competent and rewards those who aren't. EA Louse also claims the budget for Star Wars: The Old Republic is over $300 million and that the game will be one of EA's greatest failures. And I thought George Lucas was the one running the franchise into the ground.

Sony announces Polyphony Digital will once again delay the release of Gran Turismo 5. The game was scheduled for a November 2 release, but Sony announced it is now aiming for a later holiday launch date. Sony Computer Entertainment Association Producer Taku Imasaki said, "The team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience." It sounds like they're focusing on the traffic aspect of driving — specifically the whole waiting part.

Sonic Team member Takashi Iizuka said he and his team altered the Sonic the Hegdehog franchise in recent years to appeal to Mario fans. Iizuka said Sega has been able to introduce Sonic to more and more Mario fans and has made design changes in the upcoming Sonic Colors to cater toward those players. "We hope that fans of Mario will really be able to enjoy playing as Sonic in Sonic Colors," Iizuka said. It's been a long battle, but I think we can finally lay the old Mario and Sonic rivalry to rest now.
