I'm glad I chose to distance myself from the cutthroat world of video game records — I stand no chance against Billy Mitchell and his obnoxiously loud hairdo.

Billy Mitchell reclaims the title of Donkey Kong champion with a new world record. Officials from the venerable Twin Galaxies record-tracking organization confirmed Mitchell's final score of 1,062,800 on Saturday, surpassing Hank Chien's previous score of 1,061,700. Although he could have accrued a higher tally, Mitchell explained his reasoning behind stopping just after beating Chien's record: "Some say I'm being cocky. Some say I'm being lazy. I say, I'm being Billy Mitchell." I'm not going to even bother trying to formulate a joke after that quip; the man sells himself. [LatestIn]
Hoping Solid Snake will appear in Metal Gear Solid: Rising? Don't hold your breath — the game probably won't have many iconic characters of the series. In an interview with GamesTM, Creative Producer Shigenobu Matsuyama said that "we want newcomers to the game to come in and play freely without needing to know and understand the background of the whole Metal Gear Solid universe. We're probably not going to show too many characters in Rising because, since it's a new part of a series, we don't really want to refer to and dwell upon the MGS saga so much." For a man-turned-cyborg with the ability to cut a mean watermelon, Raiden seems very selfish of his spotlight.
Bethesda reveals the vocal talent for its upcoming Fallout: New Vegas. Ron Perlman (Hellboy) will reprise his role as narrator (no one else can nail down that chilling line of "War. War never changes" quite so well) alongside an expanded cast of celebrities including Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Matthew Perry (Friends), and Felicia Day (The Guild). Fallout: New Vegas is expected to release on October 19 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
