Appcharge is bringing on a new chief operator to help steer the company’s ongoing expansion.
Today, October 21, the gaming direct-to-consumer platform Appcharge announced the appointment of Ronen Morecki as its first-ever chief operating officer. Morecki is a longtime veteran of the digital payments space who previously served as the vice president of payments for monday.com. He has over 25 years of experience building and scaling payments businesses, having spent stints on both the provider side — as the co-founder of ZooZ and chief technology officer of PayU — and the merchant side through his former role at monday.com.
“The unique thing about my role in Appcharge is that it’s not a standard operations role, with customer operations and office operations and other operations. It’s payments operations, and payments operations means multi-vendor management; it’s complex working with all the financial institutions that bring money in, and we need to operate them properly,” Morecki said in an interview with GamesBeat. “So, the role is not a classic COO. It’s more payments-oriented, but including all the departments that relate to that in order to make that happen — financial, tax, region, legal.”
Today marks Morecki’s fourth day in his new role at Appcharge. He will be based out of the company’s office in Tel Aviv. He told GamesBeat that his role would not result in a major internal reorganization at Appcharge, but that he intended to bring some order to Appcharge’s engineering, product, operations, and finance departments, which currently report up to different heads.
“We need to better align them on a shared vision, and better connect those four teams that exist today,” he said.

So far, Appcharge has raised a total of $89 million to build its platform for gaming direct-to-consumer businesses, including a $58 million Series B round in August 2025. Earlier this year, the company achieved $1 billion in annualized DTC transaction volume. The company’s appointment of Morecki as its first chief operating officer reflects Appcharge’s continued expansion as DTC commerce becomes an increasingly important revenue stream for game makers, particularly those in the mobile space.
“I’m a payments geek, so I’m very passionate about solving payments problems, and I think that Appcharge is really in the forefront of the future of how to take payments in the right way, and games is a great way to do that, and a great challenge to solve,” Morecki said.
Although Appcharge’s roots are in gaming, the company’s eventual goal is to expand beyond gaming to offer DTC commerce opportunities to developers across the mobile ecosystem, making Morecki’s broader payments expertise very relevant to the future the company is hoping to build. Morecki framed games as a “high-volume, sophisticated” environment, pointing out that achieving success in gaming would put Appcharge “in a good position to expand to other verticals.”
“Games are the hardest payments problem in the app economy, with huge transaction volumes and dozens of local payment methods in every market,” said Appcharge chief executive officer Maor Sason in a press release. “Ronen has built and run complex global payment organizations, which is exactly what we need as we take DTC further and deliver value for publishers in the wider app economy.”
