Lyrical Media announced today that it has launched its own new game publishing label, Lyrical Games. The new publisher aims to support high-quality indie games and empowering their creators, and at present it currently has three titles in production. It plans to reveal more information about these titles soon, but at least one of them is made in partnership with Blackbird Interactive.
Lyrical Games’s new staff includes veterans from several studios, including Devolver Digital, Humble Games and Microsoft. The studio’s new head, Blake Rochkind, is the former head of business developer at Take-Two’s recently shuttered label Private Division, and is joined by Roger Kurtz, the same studio’s former head of production.
Rochkind said in a statement, “At Lyrical Games, we firmly believe developers are often the best stewards of their own games… In this new normal, it’s never been more important for both developers and their publishing partners to share a clear, holistic vision at the outset—not just for the game itself, but who that audience is and how they can and should be reached.”
Alexander Black, Lyrical Media CEO, said in a statement, “From the very beginning of Lyrical Media, we set out to be a premier home for amazing storytelling regardless of medium. We want to empower fiercely passionate game creators by bridging the gap between their art and the players who stand to be moved by it. Lyrical Games has the experience to know that we are nothing without our partners and their vision.”
