Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches fall 2024 with new companions

One of the games to make an appearance at the summer Xbox Games Showcase was Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the long-awaited fourth game in the Dragon Age series. According to the trailer, the game launches sometime in fall 2024. Developer BioWare announced the title of the game last week, and we’re getting a focused showcase on June 11 which will presumably reveal more details.

In addition to the release window, the trailer also revealed more details about the companion characters who’ll follow the player into danger. Companions are an important part of the Dragon Age series and typically the most memorable. The Veilguard comprises at least seven members (though it’s possible we’ll see more):

  • Harding: The Scout
  • Neve: The Detective
  • Emmrich: The Necromancer
  • Taash: The Dragon Hunter
  • Davrin: The Warden
  • Bellara: The Veil Jumper
  • Lucanis: The Mage Killer

Recurring character Varric Tethras also appeared in the trailer, though he wasn’t highlighted like the companion characters, so it’s not certain if he himself is one. We’ll likely get to see more of the characters and what they can do at the gameplay reveal on June 11.
