Video game publisher Ubisoft has unveiled a new peripheral for the Nintendo Wii designed to let you get in touch with your inner Picasso.
The Drawsome Tablet allows users to show off their artistic creativity through an intuitive device that displays everything you draw in real time on a television screen. It features a large 8.5″ screen and a wireless stylus, which allow unrestricted drawing movements. Ubisoft assures that the size, shape and feel of the pen are user-friendly for children as well. The device shows that you can still innovate around somebody else’s platform, even if it’s a console that is now five years old.
“Ubisoft is always looking for new ways to marry quality family time with a quality gaming experience,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft North America. “With the Drawsome Tablet, Ubisoft is bringing to the market a peripheral that will allow families to sit down together and create their own unique works of art while participating in fun, creative adventures.”
The Drawsome Tablet will come with two games at launch: Drawsome Artist featuring the Smurfs, which teaches you art techniques step-by-step, and Drawsome Sketch Quest, an adventure game that allows up to four players to travel through 80 levels saving cute animals. Using an SD card, players will be able to easily share their masterpieces with friends and family.
The Drawsome Tablet will release exclusively in the United States on Dec. 6, 2011. The new system will give some competition to THQ, which debuted its uDraw game tablet for the Wii last year.
