Why Mario’s Hallmark ornaments matter beyond your Christmas tree

Many of my hobbies are typical (maybe even generic) for your average nerd. I like video games, Star Trek, professional wrestling, and so on. But I also have a bizarre affinity for Hallmark’s Christmas ornaments.

First off, I love Christmas, and Hallmark’s ornaments also offer a look at the U.S.’s current pop culture icons. Every year, you’ll find decorations celebrating Star Wars, Disney, Star Trek, Harry Potter, superheroes (Marvel and DC). You’ll even see surprising ornaments, like those for The Walking Dead. But you know what you don’t usually find? Real video game ornaments in Hallmark’s lineup.
