Satoru Iwata is gone, but we can remember the Nintendo president whenever we want by playing his games.

And so we did!

GamesBeat writers Jeff Grubb and Mike Minotti took to Twitch to broadcast an entire playthrough of Kirby’s Dream Land, an early Game Boy platformer. Iwata worked on Kirby back when he was a programmer and then president of developer HAL Laboratories.

Iwata actually came up with the idea for the Kirby game himself. He wanted to make something that anyone could immediately pick up and play — even those who have never touched a controller before. The result is a megasimple game that even many hardcore gamers can’t help but love.
