We’ve finally got some PlayStation 4 footage of The Witcher 3.
The role-playing game from Polish developer CD Projekt Red is one of the year’s most anticipated releases. Senior designer Damien Monnier recently sparked controversy, though, when he said he’d recommend playing the game on PC with minimum settings over playing the XBox One version, which is limited to a resolution of 900p. It displays at 1080p on PlayStation 4 — although both console versions run at 30 frames-per-second, rather than the gold-standard 60fps — and Sony Poland has just shared the first footage of it in action.
Resolution was a hot topic when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One released back in November 2013, but it’s been less of a concern lately. It seems that the massive, detailed game world in The Witcher 3 is too tricky to shoehorn onto both consoles without making some compromises, though. The disparity was made more embarassing when Microsoft apologized for using PC footage in an Xbox One trailer for the game last month.
