Well, it wasn’t much, but we got a brief look at a new Star Wars game during EA’s leadup event for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which is broadcasting simultaneously from Los Angeles and London.

Visceral, the studio behind the third-person action/horror series Dead Space, is making this new Star Wars project. Amy Henning, who previously worked on the first three Uncharted games for Sony, is also involved. It showed a short sample of gameplay footage as part of a montage of behind-the-scenes looks at EA’s multiple Star Wars projects.

E3 is the largest gaming event of the year. Some were hoping that it would give us a good look at Visceral’s Star Wars game. However, it isn’t coming out until 2018. A sequel to last year’s Battlefront will come out first in 2017.

Visceral has also worked on Battlefield Hardline and Dante’s Inferno. It is a company experienced with making blockbuster games. That explains why EA would trust it with the valuable Star Wars brand, which it is licensing from Disney.

The clip featured a man walking out into a desert landscape that looked a lot like Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s home planet. We’ll probably have to wait until next year to see more.
