Universal Pictures gets rights to make Gears of War film

Universal Pictures has optioned the rights to make a movie based on Gears of War.

Rod Fergusson, head of Gears of War developer The Coalition, announced during a game livestream that Universal Pictures has optioned motion picture rights to Microsoft Studios’ Gears of War game series, which has more than $1 billion and has been played by more than 45 million gamers.
