Unity announced that Unity AI, which will help game developers create games faster, is now in open beta.
The maker of the Unity game engine said that what sets Unity AI apart is it understands games.
Unity AI is built into the Editor and grounded in the real context of game development, from project structure and systems to the creative iteration that shapes player experience.
That means creators can spend less time on repetitive workflows, and more time building and refining what makes a game great. Developers can also securely connect and control their preferred AI tools directly in the editor with the AI Gateway, or from their IDE with the MCP server.
Developers still own the creative direction but with Unity AI, they can try more things, make better decisions and get from idea to something playable faster, the company said.
Key benefits include:
- An AI agent that understands Games: Our in-editor agent is tuned for Unity-specific workflows and grounded in your project context. That means more relevant answers, better task execution, and fewer retries.
- Bring assets to life in Unity: Unity AI helps developers convert designs, images, and visual references into project-ready assets and playable scenes.
- Better integration means more control: Undo changes any time. Tag AI-generated assets for easier review. Set permissions to control agent autonomy.
Unity AI is available for all developers on Unity 6 and above.
