XDefiant from Ubisoft is an upcoming live-service FPS title

Ubisoft reports solid engagement for Q1 FY2025, thanks in part to XDefiant

Ubisoft today put out its earnings report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, in which it revealed that it managed to beat its sales targets thanks in part to its games-as-a-service titles. Its sales numbers, net bookings and back catalogue net bookings all rose — specifically, it reports €290 million in net bookings, up 8.3% year-over-year and €323.5 million in sales, up 12%.

The main factor in this growth was apparently the high level of engagement from XDefiant, which launched on May 21 and accrued more than 10 million players within its first two weeks. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot called it an “encouraging start” and noted the company plans to grow the existing audience over time with a roadmap of content. Similarly, he noted the success of Rainbow Six Siege’s marketplace, which sees a steady flow of transactions, as well as Year 9 Season 1, which was “the highest grossing season in Siege’s history.”
