Indie game publisher The CoLab announced today that it is entering into a long-term partnership with Universally Speaking, an end-to-end game services provider. This partnership with, according to both parties, will help support indie game developers by giving them access to resources comparable to a large studio. Universally Speaking integrates into development teams early in the process to smooth the feedback process.
The CoLab launched earlier this year with a mandate to support creativity by providing a nurturing environment for indie devs. When it launched, the publisher revealed its slate of upcoming games. The first title, Fireside Feelings from Team Empreintes, launched last month. The CoLab’s values include transparency and open communication with developers, and both parties say that Universally Speaking will support this mission.
Mark Faulkner, co-founder and head of production at The CoLab, said in a statement, “The relationship we share with the Universally Speaking team is perfectly aligned with our values as a company. The collaborative approach they take is in sync with to ensure that quality is paramount, they work with our developers in an honest and open manner, speaking to them directly with kindness and clarity. We couldn’t ask for a better partner.”
Joe Corrall, head of QA at Universally Speaking, added, “We’re very excited to be joining up with The CoLab and working side-by-side at all levels to deliver the next big wave of independent games through a new indie-centric commercial model. It’s an absolute pleasure to work so openly with both publisher and developer alike, ensuring that every hour of effort has maximum return for the players, already shown with the debut Fireside Feelings getting a 97% positive score on Steam. With collaboration and integrity at the very heart of The CoLab, we know there are great things in store.”
