Tencent-led consortium to acquire up to 84% stake in Supercell from SoftBank at $10.2 billion valuation

After months of speculation, Chinese tech giant Tencent has confirmed that a consortium it established will acquire a majority stake in Clash of Clans-maker Supercell from SoftBank.

The deal will value Supercell at $10.2 billion, and following the deal — which is expected to close in the third quarter of 2016 — Supercell will “retain its independent operations” and keep its main headquarters in Finland.
