Smite, a multiplayer online battle arena strategy game, is coming to PlayStation 4, Sony announced today. Smite was previously available on Xbox One and PC. While not as popular as top MOBAs League of Legends (which leads the genres — it earned $1.6 billion in 2015) and Dota 2, Smite still has over 14 million players.
We actually compared MOBAs before, but things have changed since 2013. A couple of new games have made a large impact, and the two top dogs — League of Legends and Dota 2 — have continued to grow. So, we’ve updated the list with new stats and new games.
Smite has begun its open beta on Xbox One, meaning anyone can download it from the Xbox One store and play it. Smite is a free-to-play MOBA (a kind of game where two teams of player-controlled heroes try to destroy the other’s base), similar to massive hits League of Legends and Dota 2.
