Super Smash Bros. for 3DS sold 1 million in its first weekend

Handheld gaming’s still fighting against the seemingly unstoppable rise of the smartphone, and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS threw a mighty punch this weekend.

Despite gloomy predictions for the future of the handheld market, which Juniper Research says will be dead by 2019, Nintendo’s 3DS console is still performing well. Fighting game Super Smash Bros. released for the 3DS and 2DS in Japan on Friday, and Nintendo has revealed that it’s already sold over 1 million copies.
