Xbox Live downloads for Sonic Adventure 2 HD and Nights HD are broken (updated)

Christmas Nights

Update: “For those trying to download Nights or Sonic Adventure 2 on XBLA, we are aware of the problem,” Sega producer Stephen Frost tweeted. “Microsoft is looking into the issue now.”

Users are also reporting the same error when attempting to download the new Trials Evolution downloadable content.

Original story: Sega released its high-definition remakes of Nights Into Dreams and Sonic Adventure 2 for Xbox Live Arcade today, but fans cannot purchase either game directly from their system’s Xbox Live Marketplace.

As of the time of this posting, attempting to bring up either game within Xbox Live leads to an error message. This includes browsing for the games in their A-to-Z listing, clicking on the Sonic Adventure 2 on the Xbox Live dashboard, and searching for the games using Xbox Bing. In fact, an Xbox Bing search for the exact titles of each game will not bring up either Nights Into Dreams or Sonic Adventure 2.

This appears to be some sort of error with Xbox Live Marketplace that only affects Sega’s most recent releases.

Thankfully, desperate Sega fans can still get their mitts on the digital releases via Microsoft’s Xbox.com website. Users who sign into Xbox.com with their Gamertag can purchase the games from the website and start the download remotely. Find Nights Into Dreams and Sonic Adventure 2 on the website.

I’ve contacted Sega and Microsoft to see if they are working on a solution.
