Money can’t buy happiness, but Rockstar is hoping that digital cash can buy some forgiveness.

The developer announced today that it is giving Grand Theft Auto: Online players $500,000 in GTA$ — the title’s in-game currency — to thank gamers for putting up with some of the game’s broken features. Since its launch earlier this month, GTA: Online has seen a number of connection issues and other bugs. That includes a devastating glitch that caused some players to lose their progress.

“Given some of the recent technical issues during these first days of GTA: Online, and now that things are starting to look much smoother — touch wood! — we are planning to provide a special stimulus package for all who have played or will play Grand Theft Auto Online this month,” reads a Rockstar press release. “We will be dropping a cool half a million GTA$ in the GTA Online bank accounts of all players this month, starting as early as next week.”

The studio will give the players the money directly to their bank accounts through two deposits this month. It wants to spread the money out in order to maintain the balance of the in-game economy. Only those who have played the title online in October will get the deposit.

Rockstar will also release a title update that it expects will fix any remaining progression issues. The patch is a mandatory download to get your free cash. The studio will announce the exact date of the deposits on its website.
