Distinct Possibility Studios, the independent game development company behind the online shooter Reaper Actual, has announced it has closed an additional round of funding.
Distinct Possibility Studios is an independent game developer founded by industry veterans behind some of the most ambitious shooters and MMOs of the last two decades. Their first title, Reaper Actual, is intended to offer a brutal FPS experience where every in-game choice echoes across the battlefield.
Led by Decasonic, the new funding round will support development and the upcoming launch of Reaper Actual on Steam Early Access in May 2026. Distinct Possibility Studios did not disclose the terms of the investment deal. The company also announced that gaming industry veterans Bing Gordon and Paul Hsu have joined its board of directors.
“This additional funding, and Bing joining our board, is a major milestone for Distinct Possibility Studios and a strong vote of confidence in our vision. This gives us additional funding, expertise, and resources to continue polishing the player experience and ensure Reaper Actual is ready for a successful Steam Early Access launch in the coming weeks,” wrote John Smedley, the chief executive officer of Distinct Possibility Studios, in a LinkedIn post.
“We’re building something special, and this support allows us to deliver the kind of game our community deserves,” Smedley said in the post.
Gordon is widely recognized as one of the most influential leaders in the interactive entertainment industry, having helped shape some of gaming’s most iconic companies and franchises over the course of his career; Hsu is an accomplished games industry leader and investor in innovative start-ups that focus on leveraging technological advancements to establish and develop new markets and paradigms.
