Industry-tracking firm Circana recently released its final monthly report for the U.S. games industry in 2025, covering the month of December. This report also showed the final sales reports and monetary figures for the year, a final tally showing that the industry overall had grown by 1%, with content sales at the same percentage and hardware sales growing by 9%.
This year’s final report shows that the best-selling game is Battlefield 6, meaning Electronic Arts beat Activision’s Call of Duty series to the top of the leaderboard. Accessories sales have fallen by 7%, despite the uptick in hardware sales. It would be easy to look at the big successes, especially from the likes of the Nintendo Switch 2, and assume they’re the reason the 2025 industry looked the way it does.
