The biggest mobile game in the U.S., Pokémon Go, is currently having some “server issues,” according to the Twitter account for the game.

I just started the app on an iPhone and, sure enough, the app said that it had “failed to log in.” Others have reported getting this error message, too.

The technical troubles follow a few other snags that the app has run into in its sudden ascent. First, many people had trouble just getting the game to work because of all the initial interest, and then Niantic, the company behind the app, had to remove the “full access” to iOS users’ Google accounts that the app originally had.

We’ll update this article as the situation develops.

Update at 9:46 a.m. Pacific: Some people have been able to start playing again, although Niantic has not said that it has fixed the server issues.

Update at 9:38 p.m. Pacific: Niantic said it has “identified” the cause of the server problems, but the company did not indicate the problems have been solved — only that “trainers should once again be able to search for Pokémon in the real world.”
