Pokémon Duel lacks Pokémon Go’s big draw: simplicity

The latest Pokémon game for mobile is fun, but it’ll have a hard time reaching as large an audience as Pokémon Go has.

Pokémon Go was a big success largely because it’s so accessible, meaning that it’s easy for most people to pick up and play with little instruction. It generated revenues of $950 million in 2016. You could show it to anyone and they would understood how it worked. If you showed someone a screenshot of Pokémon Duel, they’d probably have a lot questions about how the game actually works.
