Consumer spending on video games in the U.S. during Q3 2018 (July to September) reached $9.1 billion in the U.S., according to The NPD Group. That is up 24 percent compared to the same period last year.
Software sales (which includes full games, subscriptions, and microtransactions) were up 25 percent at $.71 billion. The NPD Group attributed the growth to the continued success of mobile giant Candy Crush Saga, the popular battle royale game Fortnite, and hit console titles Marvel’s Spider-Man, Madden NFL 19, and NBA 2K19.
