We don’t know why people are so upset about the PS3 Slim’s lack of PS2 backwards compatibility. We’re more upset it won’t be able to play HD-DVD movies. Um, ripoff!
News Blips:
• Well, this is weird: PS3 Slim only plays PS3 games. And here we thought the upcoming smaller-sized PlayStation 3 Slim could play games from other consoles, like, say, the PlayStation 2. Nope — backwards compatibility will sadly not be included in the new model. Ugh, we hate having to play old games on old systems. [ars technica]
• How sad: GRIN’s last game may have been a Final Fantasy spin-off. Now that Bionic Commando developer GRIN has officially shut down, word has come out that their next game would have been a Final Fantasy 12 spin-off for publisher Square Enix. You hear that, Hollywood? This is all your fault! [Shacknews]
• Pain adds cocky comedian Andy Dick. Yep, it’s true: Andy Dick is now officially in the PS3 downloadable game Pain. What? Andy Dick? Sorry, Sony, but no Carrot Top, no sale. [Joystiq]
• We reading this right: World of WarCraft getting official magazine? Appears so as Blizzard and magazine publisher Future announced it will be releasing an official quarterly WoW magazine available only via subscription. If you fancy reading about all the exciting happenings around Azeroth, you can purchase a one-year subscription for $40. Or you can, uh, read the Internet. For free. [GameSpot]
