Netflix Games announced the latest addition to its roster of games: Netflix Minigolf. It’s exactly what you think it is: A TV-based, couch co-op party game in which up to 4 players putter around a series of courses inspired by three of Netflix’s biggest shows. Stranger Things, Bridgerton and Squid Games are each represented in the game, which launches on Netflix on July 28.

The game is designed to be played on TVs, with players using their phones as controllers and scanning a QR code to play. According to Netflix, the game is more than just a straightforward minigolf simulator, as it also takes inspiration from pinball. As players progress through the 60+ levels, they collect Pranks, which they can then unleash on their fellow players for a little extra chaos.

This marks a departure from Netflix’s previous games, such as sports game FIFA World Cup Launch Edition and immersive horror game Unhinged — though it bears some similarity to both. Like Unhinged, players use their phones to participate. Like FIFA, it features animated versions of familiar faces; in this case, characters from the aforementioned shows.

Netflix Minigolf is the product of Next Games, which Netflix acquired in 2022. At the time, the studio was best known for mobile games, and had worked with Netflix IP previously with Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales. Since being acquired, it has developed other puzzle games for the streaming service, including Netflix Puzzled.
