Mobile developer Wooga’s latest hidden-object game Agent Alice finds success

Popular genres on consoles include things like first-person shooters and fighters. On mobile, hidden-object games are one of the dominant forces.

Developer Wooga revealed that it’s latest free-to-play release, Agent Alice, has already racked up more than 3 million downloads on iOS and Android after only four days after its launch. The hidden-object game, where players must find various items in a cluttered scene, is Wooga’s biggest launch ever. The company claims it is getting around 800,000 new downloads for the game every day. This is an example of the kind of casual game that can find an audience and make money on mobile by appealing to players that do not usually spend $60 on a console or PC release.

“I’m very happy to see the overwhelming success Agent Alice has had since launch,” Wooga chief executive Jens Begemann said. “It confirms the high aspirations we had for the game and we love to see that players have embraced the title so quickly. It is still early days, but we are confident that with Agent Alice we have added another hit title to our portfolio.”

Agent Alice shot up the top of the download charts in several major world markets. Wooga notes that it was the No. 1 downloaded game in the U.S., U.K., France, and Germany. It was also in the top 10 in 13 countries.

The company’s prior biggest lauch was the August 2013 release of Jelly Splash, a simple puzzle game, which earned around 1 million downloads in four days.
