Minecraft’s Wii U release caused Nintendo’s eShop to experience an intermittent outage

One of the best-selling games ever made is finally on a Nintendo system, and people rushed the Wii U’s download store to get it.

Minecraft caused a few problems for the Nintendo eShop. After first debuting on PC way back in 2009 (a “finished” version came out in 2011), developer Mojang’s block-building phenomenon is finally out on the Wii U. It debuted early this morning, and people who wanted to get it right as the clock struck midnight encountered difficulties. Gamers on social media were complaining about error codes and server-connection warnings, and the outage-tracking website Down Detector had people reporting problems all through the night and into the early part of the work day.
