Minecraft and 'The Simpsons' — watch Homer and the gang's blocky couch gag

Minecraft is creeping its way into all corners of popular culture, and it is now even the subject of a gag on one of television’s longest-running shows.

The Simpsons, Fox’s popular animated sitcom, referenced developer Mojang’s game in an opening sequence that re-created the show’s characters and world with big, digital blocks. Fans of The Simpsons know that each episode begins with an opening credit sequence that features different sight gags and ends with the family gathering on their family room couch. This time, the show had Homer, Bart, and the rest running through a pixellated version of Springfield before getting blown up on their sofa by Moe, who the show made into one of Minecraft’s green enemy “creepers.”
