Mewtwo and 2 other Pokémon join Pokkén Tournament’s Wii U roster

Pokkén Tournament just caught a few new Pokémon.

A new issue of Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic (via Gematsu) revealed three new fighters for the upcoming Pokémon fighting game: Mewtwo, Braixen, and Garchomp. While the game is available now in Japan in arcades, these new characters are exclusive to the upcoming Wii U release (which will come out in the U.S. during the second quarter of this year.)

I'd put my money on Mewtwo.

The Pokémon franchise is turning 20, and Pokkén Tournament is just one part of a big year for the franchise. Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will re-release on the 3DS eShop on February 27.

A variation of Mewtwo, Shadow Mewtwo, appears as a boss character in the arcade version. However, fans will likely enjoy getting to play as the original version, which was one of most powerful Pokémon in the Red and Blue Game Boy games.
