Nintendo finally revealed gameplay details about the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond at its March Direct, including the location — a beautiful jungle with hostile locals — as well as what Samus can do to combat her attackers. In the latest installment, Samus adds psychic abilities to her arsenal. The gameplay trailer also confirmed that Prime 4 launches sometime in 2025.

According to the trailer, Samus is called to the planet Viewros, where she receives said abilities. In practice, her psychic powers mean that Samus can manipulate certain puzzles with her mind and also guide the trajectory of her beams in Prime’s signature first-person gameplay.

It’s also implied that she doesn’t know why she’s received these powers, though the mysterious figure who calls her “Chosen One” might have something to do with it.

Nintendo drew back the curtain on Prime 4 during a Direct focused on its original Switch games. It’s possible, if not almost certain, that the game will launch on the upcoming Switch 2 console. The Direct revealing more information about that console airs on April 2. If it confirms a 2025 launch date, then it’s likely that Metroid Prime 4 will launch on both consoles simultaneously.
