Livestreaming app Mobcrush raises $20 million

The mobile-based livestreaming app Mobcrush has raised $20 million in Series B funding.

The Los Angeles-based production company Evolution Media led the round. This brings Mobcrush’s total funding to $35.9 million since its founding in 2014. Live-streaming is a key part of the growing esports market, which Newzoo projects will earn $1.1 billion in revenues by 2019. The PC and console-based Twitch (which has over 100 million viewers a month) is the most popular site for streamers, but Mobcrush could take advantage of the $36 billion mobile games market. The most popular games broadcasted on the platform include mobile hits like Minecraft, Vainglory, Clash Royale, and Pokémon Go.
