If you bought Guild Wars 2 for PC, you now have Guild Wars 2 for Mac

Guild Wars 2

You can finally get together with your Guild Wars 2 adventuring pals from your MacBook Pro.

Developer ArenaNet announced today that it has released a Mac-compatible beta of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

“The Mac Beta client is available immediately for all Guild Wars 2 players,” ArenaNet marketing and web coordinator David Campbell wrote in a statement. “It shares the same features and connects to the same live game servers as the PC client. Anyone who purchases Guild Wars 2 can now play it on both PC and Mac.”

Gaming support on Apple computers is on the rise. Campbell pointed out that much of ArenaNet’s staff uses Mac computers.

“We’re as excited as anyone to play Guild Wars 2 on OS X,” he wrote.

ArenaNet did advise that, since this product is still in beta, the game may suffer from some tech issues. Campbell assured fans that the final release will improve performance across the board. The team has yet to finalize the minimum specifications for this version of the Guild Wars 2 client.

Guild Wars 2 is a fantasy massively multiplayer online RPG. The original game set its self apart in the genre by forgoing a monthly subscription fee. This sequel continued that tradition, but increased the focus on in-game purchases.
