GameStop: Nintendo 64 is the hottest system in the retro-gaming scene

The NES Classic Edition has made old games cool again, and GameStop has found that it has plenty of demand for classic systems among its customers.

The gaming-focused retailer did a survey of the customers that have a membership to its PowerUp Rewards loyalty program to ask what retro consoles they are most interested in, and — as you might expect — Nintendo dominated the top of the list. The company’s Nintendo 64 system took the No.1 spot, with the NES (non-Classic Edition) as first runner-up. GameStop started selling and accepting trades on retro-gaming hardware and software at all of its North American stores in October. That came after the company began selling old system and games on its website in July 2015. Now, with consumers crazed over the NES Classic (which is sold out nearly everywhere), GameStop is reminding consumers that it can scratch their nostalgia-fueled retro-gaming itches.
