Square Enix revealed on Final Fantasy’s official Twitter account that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has reached over 1 million in sales.
The Zodiac Age is an HD remaster for PlayStation 4. Final Fantasy XII first came out for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. The original version sold more than six million copies worldwide. Square Enix spends a lot of effort on remaking and remastering older games, especially in the Final Fantasy franchise. These re-releases encourage old fans to buy games they already own again so that they can have them on newer platforms, but they can also introduce classics to a new generation.

The Zodiac Age remastered the role-playing game’s visuals and soundtrack, and it brought features introduced in a special Japanese version of the game to players in the West for the first time. These include a new progression system based on traditional Final Fantasy classes, or Jobs, and a high-speed mode that fast-forwards the game to make it easier to travel long distances.
Our review praised the updates and appreciated how well Final Fantasy XII has aged.
