Deadly Premonition creator Swery is taking a health-related break from game development

Hidetaka Suehiro, the writer and director of cult hit Deadly Premonition, today announced that he’s stepping aside from game development, at least for a while.

Suehiro, also known as Swery, has a reputation for creating off-the-wall games, and the bizarre and unsettling Deadly Premonition, first released on Xbox 360 back in 2010, is a prime example. Sadly, Suehiro — who most recently wrote and directed the episodic D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die for Xbox One and PC — is now taking a break from development as he recovers from reactive hypoglycemia. It’s a medical condition where sufferers experience dangerous drops in glucose levels around four hours after eating.
