Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 open beta starts today on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

Uh oh, looks like I’m going to have that theme stuck in my head all day … again.

You can now get an early taste of one of the upcoming holiday’s biggest shooters, Battlefield 4. The open beta starts today for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Xbox PC.

The 1.56GB beta download includes a single map, the Siege of Shanghai, available in Conquest (the series signature play style that focuses on capturing control points) and Dominion (a faster-paced version of Conquest) modes, as originally reported by GameSpot. The released game will launch with 10 maps and seven multiplayer modes.

You can download the PC beta through publisher EA’s Origin store. You’ll find the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store. You can pay a $10 fee to carry over your current-gen progress to the next-gen versions [this article previously incorrectly stated that you could pay $10 to carry your progress from the beta to the full game].

Battlefield 4 launches on Oct. 29 for Xbox 360, and PS3, and PC. Next-gen versions come out with the new systems, Nov. 15 for the PlayStation 4 and Nov. 22 for the Xbox One.
