The video card market is heating up in 2020, and that’s a wonderful thing for PC gaming fans. AMD is kicking off the year with the launch of its new Radeon RX 5600 XT, which is available today starting at $279. The company is positioning the card as the ultimate GPU to pair with a 1080p monitor. And it easily delivers on that promise.
The RX 5600 XT uses a cut-down version of the Navi 10 GPU, which is also in the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT. So while AMD is cleverly pitching the 5600 XT as a powerful 1080p card, it’s actually a weaker version of a 1440p chip. But the end result is the same. It easily maintains 60 frames per second at 1080p. And it does so at such a competitive price that Nvidia reacted by dropping the price of its GeForce RTX 2060 to $299. Although, that price may not last if it’s just a temporary stunt by Nvidia.
