Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be revealed on June 9.

Activision confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 event for June 9

It’s official. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been confirmed as this year’s big game for the franchise.

Activision said a Black Ops 6 Direct event will follow the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday June 9. The showcase starts at 10 a.m. for the full reveal, with a Black Ops 6 Direct immediately following.

As the lead studio, Treyarch has had four years to work on Black Ops 6, which is an unusual length for the typical Call of Duty three-year development cycle. The tagline for the marketing campaign is The Truth Lies. Raven Software has also been working on the game.

Leaks have suggested that Black Ops 6 will carry on the story from the 1980s setting of the previous game, Black Ops: Cold War, to the Gulf War of 1990-91. The teaser, however, suggests a kind of civil war in the U.S., using the mysterious Cerberus logo. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson expects the game to debut on October 25.

Black Ops 6 reveal is coming on June 9.

Microsoft acquired the Call of Duty franchise with its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard last October. Other reports suggest that Call of Duty is coming to Xbox Game Pass, and that may accompany a change in the pricing tiers for the subscription service.
