Reviews Spotlight: Finding Flaws, Love, and Football

It’s Valentine’s Day and the Bitmob staff is busy professing love, cuddling, and indulging in expensive chocolate. Luckily for you and me, the community is still hard at work. The following is proof of that fact:

Distracted by Tidus’ intense, blue eyes, Trevor Hinkle enters teen heartthrob mode while reviewing Final Fantasy 10. You might fall prey to the protagonist’s wily charm, but steel yourselves –Trevor directs some very astute criticism toward this, once untouchable, role-playing game.

Brian Biederman takes his position on the line of scrimmage with his review of NFL Blitz 2000. Apparently, it’s the only football game worth playing. Subsequently, Carlos Macias adds a modern flavor to the Spotlight with his impressions of Bioware’s RPG opus, Mass Effect 2.

What would Valentine’s Day be without some flowers? Well, it would be a lot less romantic. In that vein, Alan Flaten plans to ratchet up the sentimentality in this week’s Spotlight with his sagacious review of Flower, a game which has garnered considerable attention outside the industry for its artistic merit.

Finally, for the 256 of you who aren’t in relationships, Chris Cosmo Ross has prepared an in-depth guide to MAG, PlayStation 3’s newly released “Massive Action Game.”

Final Fantasy X: A Flawed Masterpiece
By Trevor Hinkle
It’s almost been a decade since Square bequeathed the world with its chef d’oeuvre, Final Fantasy 10. The stunning visuals, revamped combat system, and compelling narrative all compounded to create an explosively entertaining experience. But how does Hironobu Sakaguchi’s final production in the series stand up nine years after its release?

NFL Blitz 2000 – The Only Football Game Worth Playing
By Brian Biederman
In keeping with the theme of last-generation releases, Brian Biederman pays homage to NFL Blitz 2000. After giving away the tone of his review in the title, Brian passes judgment upon “lesser” games in the genre — most notably Madden NFL Football. This no-nonsense review will leave you reeling in laughter. “Oh but it’s so unrealistic, and the graphics suck, and blah blah blah boo hoo.” Be quiet. Brian doesn’t want to hear any of your complaining. Why? Because NFL Blitz 2000 is, apparently, the greatest thing since the invention of cheerleaders.

Review: Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360)|
By Carlos Macias

If you ever require inspiration for your writing, take a look at Carlos Macias’ Mobfeed. If time is a factor, this Mass Effect 2 review should epitomize the high standard which Carlos’ articles maintain. Perfectly punctuated and grammatically correct, this Bitmobber’s review picks apart Bioware’s grandiose space opera. If you’re still on the fence, Carlos’ talented writing skills should help you come to a timely conclusion.

Flower: An Art Review
By Alan Flaten

Flower

Alan’s school professor asked him to review an art piece. After asking for permission, he was allowed to write about Flower, a downloadable game available on the PlayStation Network. Although the article is evidently intended for the scrutinous eyes of his teacher, Alan faithfully applies his education and explains the creativity and artistic brilliance included in this quaint video game. Hopefully, he aced his project — and if he didn’t, at least his review was promoted in this week’s Spotlight!

A Bitmob Guide: MAG for PS3
By Chris Cosmo Ross
At this point, you’ve seen dozens of reviews of MAG. But if you’re unconvinced by the opinions of strangers, allow Chris Cosmo Ross — a well-known Bitmobber — to sway your opinion. From character creation to level progression, his guide explains what it’s like to play the PS3’s first massively multiplayer game. This article goes to great lengths to delineate between casual FPS fans, competitive shooters, and die-hard MMO devotees. Chris stops short of pitching the game to you and explains why you should (or shouldn’t) buy MAG.
