Ramen, developer of the multi-agent AI assistant for Unity and Unreal Engine, has launched Aura Autopilot, an open source, game playtesting agent that improves itself the more it plays. Alongside the launch the company has published a whitepaper that covers benchmark results and high-level architecture.
Aura Autopilot is the latest feature addition to be integrated into the top 20 ranking app for AI agentic usage, Aura 1.0, which launched in September. Since then, Aura has gained traction with developers with frequent ongoing improvements. Ramen’s revenue has tripled while both subscribers and daily users have increased six fold.
“Aura Autopilot plays any game in real time and learns as it goes, getting better the more it plays,” said Andy Tsen, CEO and co-founder at Ramen, in a press release. “That opens a new frontier for game QA, and we’re open sourcing it so developers and researchers can take it further.”

Aura Autopilot during early testing can be seen successfully playing a variety of games including shooters, action role playing games, mobile games, survival crafting games, turn-based JRPGs, and realtime strategy games, all in real time. It learns a game as it goes, plans toward long-term goals, and stays steerable, so developers can point it at the exact system they want tested. Paired with Aura, it closes the loop on feature work: Aura builds a gameplay feature end to end and Autopilot playtests it.
Ramen believes game-playing agents should be built in the open and improved over time, and invites developers of all types and sizes to build and test their games with Aura Autopilot, whether access through open source or Aura subscription.
The testing agent works with existing Claude Code and Codex subscriptions and developers using the standalone (open source) version of Aura Autopilot can utilize their own API key. The project is live on GitHub today, and developers can join the Ramen community on Discord.
The Aura whitepaper details the Aura Autopilot architecture and benchmarks it against other game development agents on cost, speed and accuracy. According to a press release highlights include:
- Significantly faster: Runs 3x faster than Aura’s Verification Agent, at a lower cost
- Outperforms competitors: Beats Bezi and NeoStack, as well as general-purpose coding agents like Claude Code and Codex, at testing games
- Recursively self-improving: The more Autopilot plays a game, the better it gets and the faster it returns results for developers to help with development progress and timelines
- Open source [new]: Runs in Unreal Engine, Unity and Godot; with Claude Code, Codex or BYOK and integrates with Aura subscriptions
Ramen is continuing to release new features for Aura. New Figma and Blender integrations take developers from mockup to in-game UI efficiently and fast. Character Motion has been added, which allows developers to describe an animation and Aura will generate it for characters in the engine. Additionally, an overhauled level design agent improves level blockout results with less cost. This new approach also scales up, so entire cities and areas can be blocked out.
Aura Autopilot is available now on GitHub. Aura 1.0 is available for Windows and Mac, with ongoing support for Unity and Unreal Engine. Sign up at www.tryaura.dev.
