Wizards of the Coast-CWA, the union that represents employees of the company, is expanding to include multiple teams. The team behind Arena formed the union this year, and now the teams behind Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering are joining it. It is currently calling upon Wizards of the Coast to voluntarily recognize the union.
Both new additions to the union have sent Wizards of the Coast a list of demands. These include that the company relax its aggressive adoption of AI among creatives, relinquish claims of ownership over non-company projects and offer protections for remote work, layoffs and sustainable workloads.
IGN shared some of the union’s petition in its report. One of the demands reads, “Leadership, without regard for the desires of our teams, has pushed for adoption of LLMs and generative AI. This has to stop; our teams deserve a robust and enforceable AI policy that aligns with our goals and values.”
The company has until October 13 to recognize the union, though it has not done so previously. The union, for its part, has put out its petition for people to add their name in support of their demands.
