The Green Game Jam presented 11 awards yesterday honoring the studios and individuals across the video games industry demonstrating excellence in sustainable game development and environmental storytelling.
“Every year, the Green Game Jam shows how games can bring environmental stories to life and inspire players to protect and restore our planet”, said Lisa Pak, head of operations at Playing for the Planet, in a statement. “We’ve been thrilled by the positive player response to this year’s reef and rainforest content, and we’re looking forward to continuing the conversation around resilience with millions of players around the world in the 8th edition of the Green Game Jam in 2027. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and nominees.”
The awards featured categories ranging from Best in Reefs to Best Small Studio, alongside two special honours recognizing industry leaders for their sustainability work. Maria Sayans, CEO of Ustwo games, received the Champion Award for the inspirational impact she has made, and continues to make, across the global games industry in sustainability and games for good. CD Projekt Red picked up the Changemaker Award for their outstanding work in making their Warsaw based studio environmentally friendly.
The Playing for the Planet Awards brought the 2026 Green Games Summit to a close following a packed programme of talks and panel discussions. Leading climate experts joined figures from the games industry and beyond to explore how greater resilience can be built for people, the planet and the industry.
Speakers included representatives from Hasbro, The Game Bakers, More in Common, Brunswick Group, Supercell, Runaway Play, ustwo games, Playstack, the University of Exeter, and Ubisoft Annecy.
