Firesprite Games made an appearance at the September State of Play, showing off more details about its upcoming game, Until Dawn 2. In addition to a spooky trailer revealing more about the characters and their perils, the studio also revealed a release date for the game: January 28, 2027.

The trailer reveals that the main characters, who we already knew to be the hosts of a paranormal YouTube show called “Dead True,” have been to the location of the original Until Dawn, where an intern called Izzy sees something that scares her. The rest of the cast pays no attention, much to their peril, one assumes. It also reveals that the cast are lured the primary island location by a story of a demon attack from a mysterious, scarred young woman.

The rest of the trailer teases some of the choices and consequences the characters will face: Medium Mina is at one point told to sacrifice a chicken on camera, and has the option to do so or not. Host Owen has to cross a rickety bridge or follow a signal across leech-infested water. Both are as disgusting as they sound.

In a post on the PlayStation blog, Firesprite creative director Stu Tilley notes the input of Dispatch studio AdHoc, saying, “[You] can expect a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths. Every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences.”
