Nintendo reported that its Switch 2 game console has sold 23.7 million units sold despite a shortage of memory chips.
Memory chip prices have been rising because of high demand for AI chips, and that has created a shortage for memory chips. Still, Nintendo’s numbers are pretty good.
But viewed from a year ago, the challenge is clear as Nintendo is coming off of high launch numbers in 2025. In the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2026, Nintendo Switch 2 hardware sales fell 34.4% from a year earlier to 3.82 million units. Sales of the original Nintendo Switch dropped 31.8% to 0.66 million units.
