Electronic Arts said it is poised to close its deal to be purchased for $55 billion by a group led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

As of July 30, 2026, all regulatory approvals required to complete the Merger have been obtained, the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. EA currently expects the merger to close on or about the close of trading on August 4, 2026.

The completion of the merger remains subject to the satisfaction or waiver of the remaining customary closing conditions.

The buyers are an investor consortium comprised of the PIF, private investment funds affiliated with Silver Lake Group and private investment funds affiliated with Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners.

The deal received relatively swift approval, despite its size, as the Saudi’s and its partners don’t currently control huge stakes in gaming. EA announced the deal in late September, and so the deal was approved in 10 months. Compare that to Microsoft’s 21 months for its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The PIF’s investments include Savvy Games Group, which owns ESL-FaceIt, Niantic and Scopely. But that doesn’t give it a near-monopoly in any category, and so regulators have not challenged the deal on antitrust grounds.
