Indie game dev and publisher Akupara Games announced two new publishing partnerships, adding Pixeljam and Behold Studios into its growing roster, with a focus on nostalgia games.
With these partnerships, Akupara will publish and expand the catalogs of both beloved studios on new platforms, bringing fan-favorite titles to new and returning players alike.
For nearly two decades, Pixeljam and Behold Studios have been quietly shaping the landscape of games, long before the term “indie” was mainstream. Now, their catalogs join the ranks of Rain World and The Darkside Detective under Akupara Games, who know how to build the bridge between cult-classic masterpieces and the die-hard fandoms they deserve.
“I have fond memories growing up renting games from the video store and grabbing my first NES from a garage sale. When I look at what Pixeljam and Behold Studios built during the renaissance of gaming, I get that same warm feeling. Publishing both of these studios’ titles is an exciting trip down memory lane and an opportunity for an entirely new generation of players to discover them. We can’t wait,” said David Logan, CEO of Akupara Games, in a statement.
Akupara is now representing Behold’s Power Rangers-inspired tactical RPG Chroma Squad and chaotic co-op survival game Out of Space. Akupara is also supporting titles from Pixeljam, including Dino Run DX, Grid Ranger, Last Horizon, Snowball!, and Cheap Golf. Pixeljam will bring fresh titles to their retro legacy with Cornhole Hero and Dino Jump, both arriving July 23.
Pixeljam was founded in 2006 by Richard Grillotti and Miles Tilmann, two creatives with an insatiable desire to explore the outer limits of the low-resolution, pixelated style in games, art, and music. The studio built a devoted following through the golden era of browser gaming, crafting pixel-perfect experiences that generations of players still love for their unique arcade nostalgia.

Behold Studios is an award-winning indie game development studio founded in 2009 by Saulo Camarotti in Brasília, Brazil, before later relocating to Toronto, Canada. The studio is best known for creating critically acclaimed, humorous titles that blend retro aesthetics with strategic gameplay and continue to craft engaging multiplayer and RPG experiences.
Founded in 2016, Akupara Games is an indie game publisher based in Los Angeles. Using extensive knowledge and experience in development, the firm supports developers through an involved and personalized pipeline to bring games to communities of players who are looking for their next enveloping experience. The vision is to help bring stories to life and usher in the next line of gaming classics.
